Ode to the Flaiming Unicorn
Nathaniel Allen
6/23/2018-2/18/2022
The night was cool
The grass was green
The rainbow shone
Like lit gasoline
The unicorn
He liked to dance
Through the sky
Without fire-proof pants
The fire’s light
Shown through the night
The gentle glow
Bidding him where he should not go
He came right up
And saw the flames
Screamed SPARKLES
And touched the fire
Oh there once was a flaming unicorn
And we lament his glorious demise
‘Cause he touched all those flames
Then they shot up his mane
And he danced right on out of this life
Oh there once was a flaming unicorn
And this is his horn
The Cops, they came
They called my name
They said Hey, Nate
How did this happen
And I was like:
I don’t really know
If I’m being honest though
It was pretty cool to see him go
Rainbow fire
Fulfilled my desire
Of seeing something beautiful
Move on with life
Then I looked at him
And said: Can I have the horn
Then he looked at me
And he said Probably
Oh there once was a flaming unicorn
And we lament his glorious demise
‘Cause he touched all those flames
Then they shot up his mane
And he danced right on out of this life
Oh there once was a flaming unicorn
And this is his horn
You’re probably wondering why
I’m telling you this tale
Is it something about morals
Or life’s fiery train rails
The truth is just
I’ve got nothing better
You wandered into my house
And asked me for my sweater
Oh there was a flaming unicorn
And we lament his glorious demise
Cause he touched all those flames
Then they shot up his mane
And he danced right on out of this life
Oh there once was a flaming unicorn
And this is his horn
In life
It’s not a question of if you’re going to see a unicorn catch on fire
But a question of when
That’s why you should buy a copy of my book
101 ways to preserve a unicorn horn
You’ll be the talk of the town as you regale them with your ridiculous story
Raise that horn high
And scream at the top of your lungs
AND THIS IS HIS HORN
