Open up my eyes to

A house wrapped

In blue

Memories I made here

Are tied close

To you

Launching rockets in the park

And building snow forts in the yard

If you could call it a yard

Birthdays of great variety

Some space, some trains, and some, just green

I can picture everything

Oh Lord I want

To thank you for the time

I’ve had to spend

With these people in my life

Though years will pass

And all will surely change

I’ll not forget

My earliest of days

Moved into a new town

With trials

Unknown

Didn’t know the future

But still called

It home

Our God has guided us this far

And though we know it may be hard

We trust that he holds us

The talks we had, the words you said

They bounce around inside my head

At times I don’t expect

Oh Lord I want

To thank you for the time

I’ve had to spend

With these people in my life

Though years will pass

And all will surely change

I’ll not forget

My earliest of days

And if you two can hear me

From wherever you are

I hope you know I love you

I’ll never be too far

For 18 years you raised me

Gave me life and home

And I’m extremely blessed that I

Can call you both my own

I know it’s not been easy

That I can be a pain

And yet through all that I have done

You love me just the same

I can’t express just what it means

That you’re my mom and dad

But what I know is God gave me

The best that I could have

Oh Lord I want

To thank you for the time

I’ve had to spend

With these people in my life

Though years will pass

And all will surely change

I’ll not forget

My earliest of days
