More Than a Decade
Nathaniel Allen

I don’t know if you’ll hear these words
Before I pass beyond the Earth
When all I am has turned to dust
And all I’ve done is lost to us
I wonder if you know my life
Beyond the day when I was eight
Does God ever whisper to you
Of all the things that I’ve been through
It’s more than a decade
It’s everything I am
Every friendship made
And wondering if I can
Walk this world in him
Live a life of love
Or must I start again
And plead with God above
When I think back to days long gone
I don’t remember much at all
Just little moments here and there
The time you made for us to share
I didn’t care much at the time
Of course you’d be here all my life
But when the cancer came and went
You were not there after it left
It’s more than a decade
It’s everything I am
Every friendship made
And wondering if I can
Walk this world in him
Live a life of love
Or must I start again
And plead with God above
So who
Would I be
If you
Were with me
‘Cause everyone who knew you longer
Talks about you like no other
Of wisdom vast and stories lasting
Far beyond the day you passed me
And I can’t promise I’d have listened
To the wisdom you’d have given
But maybe it would have made a difference
Just to hear your voice again
It’s more than a decade
It’s everything I am
Every friendship made
And wondering if I can
Walk this world in him
Live a life of love
Or must I start again
And plead with God above
It’s more than a decade
It’s everything I am
Every friendship made
And wondering if I can
Walk this world in him
Live a life of love
Or must I start again
And pray to God above
