Triumph Day
Nathaniel Allen
unknown/2017-5/24/2019
“And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, and come down from the cross!” So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.”
Mark 15:29-32a ESV
As darkness fell
The earth was shaking
While Jesus cried
The veil was breaking
The Son of God
Was torn apart
Upon a cross
He bore my scars
This hopeless race
He came to save
Would now deliver him
To his grave
The Devil shouted
Of Triumph Day
And all assumed
He had his way
As dawn arose
The tomb was empty
The stone had rolled
Past fallen sentries
As Jesus woke
He took a breath
He held the keys
To sin and death
This hopeless race
He died to save
Could never hold him
In his grave
The Devil’s shouts
Of Triumph Day
Were all thrown into
Disarray
He shall return
In blinding light
And all the world
Will come alive
The Lord of all
Shall claim his bride
And Satan will
Have been denied
Oh hear it church
The trumpet’s call
The sound to bring
The end of all
Bowed in worship
Or gone astray
Where will we stand
On triumph day
