Tumbling

I’m alright

She says it like a movie line

Like it’s been rehearsed a thousand times

Cause it’s not true

You wonder why

It took so long to hear the lie

Why you didn’t spot it in her eyes

Long ago

Brother I’m tumbling

Falling and breaking

Why won’t he reach out and save me

You say that you trust him

In all that he’s doing

Well so did I, and look where that got me

Fault lines

Running through your family life

And you’re praying it’ll be alright

Even though

You’re up at night

Questioning the reasons why

He could let this pain into her life

And still be love

Father she’s tumbling

Falling and breaking

Why won’t you reach out and save her

She gave her life to you

Everything she knew

She loved you, Lord! So why aren’t you with her

Where are you

Where are you

When all is darkness

And hope has left us

Where are you

Where are you

When she’s still tumbling

But all I’ve been doing

Is praying and praying

And screaming and crying

And begging and fighting

And praying and praying

And praying and praying

And praying and praying

And praying and praying

And praying and praying

I know she’s tumbling

Falling and breaking

My hands are ready to catch her

Though you can’t see it

My love is working

And in the end, she will be with me
